Request for a duplicate share certificate

Things to prepare when a member asks the society for a duplicate share certificate.

What the member usually provides

  • ☐ A written application stating that the share certificate is lost or damaged.
  • ☐ Copy of the police complaint or newspaper notice if your society asks for it.
  • ☐ An indemnity bond or undertaking on stamp paper if your society asks for it.
  • ☐ Identity proof and flat details.
  • ☐ The prescribed fee, if your bye-laws set one.

What the society does

  • ☐ Checks the share register and confirms the original certificate number.
  • ☐ Records the committee's decision.
  • ☐ Issues the duplicate certificate, marked as duplicate, and records it in the register.
